(Port) Wine of the month December 2021: VINTAGE PORTS 1963
It is absolutely no secret that the 1963 Ports are spectacular. You can now argue if the 1966 Vintage Ports will outlive them or if 1955 is a hint better overall. Fact is: 1963 is 1963 and a great year. All big houses have bottled fresh, complex and intense Vintage Ports. At this year’s Christmas tasting we had three 1963s side-by-side: Fonseca, Taylor and Dow. An amazing foto-finish and one thing for certain: all three of them easily outlive everyone reading this. Unbelievably young and fresh. All three of them at 19/20. The primus inter pares Noval Nacional 1963 was my wine of the month this October.
